TCL TV Volume Stuck, Too Loud or Too Low

A TV is always enjoyable to watch if it has a considerable volume, not too loud or too low. TCL TV is a brand of television known for its excellent picture and sound quality. Unfortunately, like any other gadget, the TV’s volume may get stuck too loud or low, distorting your watching experience.

TCL TV volume may get stuck too loud or too low due to a stuck volume up or down button, volume level set to zero, volume level set to maximum, or inappropriate audio settings. Easy fixes include restarting the TV, checking the volume buttons, and power cycling the TV.

In the rest of this article, I’ll discuss why your TCL TV volume is stuck too loud or low. I’ll also cover how to fix these problems to restore your TV’s normal volume. Let’s get started!

Why Your TCL TV Volume Is Stuck, Too Loud, or Too Low

A TV’s volume stuck too loud or too low not only interrupts your watching experience but also exposes you to hearing impairment. While loud volume can expose you to cochlea membrane and cell damage, low volume causes auditory deprivation.

Here are the main reasons your TCL TV volume may be stuck, too loud, or too low:

A Stuck Volume up or Down Button

As is the norm, you can regulate your TV’s volume with a remote or the volume buttons on the TV. When it comes to the remote, the buttons are usually very sensitive, and a single press can result in an increase or decrease in volume.

Sometimes, the volume up or down button may get stuck, resulting in your TV’s volume being stuck too loud or low.

When the volume up button on the remote gets stuck, your TV’s volume will stick too loud. On the other hand, when the volume down button sticks, the TV’s volume will get stuck too low.

Some reasons the remote buttons may get stuck include the following:

  • Spilled liquids on the remote.
  • Dirt or dust accumulation on the remote buttons.
  • A damaged or faulty remote.

Volume Level Set to Zero, Mute, or Maximum

Your TV’s volume level determines how loud or low the sound will be. If it’s set to zero, mute, or maximum, your TV’s volume will get stuck too low or too loud.

When the volume level is set to zero or mute, you won’t hear any sound from your TV. In this case, you’ll have a TV whose volume is stuck too low. On the other hand, if the volume level is set to maximum, the TV’s volume will stick loud.

Incorrect Audio Settings

Your TCL TV’s audio settings must be correctly set to the stereo speaker or TV for the best volume and high-quality sound. If not, your TV’s volume may get stuck too loud or low.

Issues with audio settings usually arise if you had previously connected the TV to a different sound output device. For example, you may have connected the TV to Bluetooth speakers and later disconnected them without resetting the audio settings.

Another reason for inappropriate audio settings is an incorrect HDMI connection. You could be using the wrong HDMI port or cable.

Outdated Software

Software updates usually come with new features and bug fixes. Outdated TCL TV software may cause the volume to get stuck too loud or low.

Although most modern smart TVs have automatic software update features, the feature must be enabled to function. Therefore, your TCL TV won’t update automatically if the automatic update is disabled.

Fixes for TCL TV Volume Stuck Too Loud or Too Low

At this point, you know why your TCL TV’s volume is stuck too loud or low. How can you address this issue? Read on to find out.

1. Check the Remote Volume Buttons

The first fix is to check if your TV’s remote buttons are stuck and release them. In this case, you need to address your specific challenge. If the volume is stuck loud, check the volume up button; otherwise, check the volume down button if the TV’s volume is stuck too low.

To check if the buttons are stuck, press and hold the specific button for some time. It may be stuck if it doesn’t respond or responds slowly.

You can use a toothpick or another sharp object to release the buttons. However, you must be cautious when using sharp objects to avoid damaging your remote.

2. Check Your TV’s Volume Level

If there’s a volume issue with your TCL TV, one common cause is that the volume level is set to zero, mute, or maximum

If your TV’s volume is stuck too low, check to ensure it’s not set to zero volume or mute. You can try pressing the volume up button on the remote to raise the volume. If that doesn’t work, press the mute button once to see if you have accidentally muted your television.

On the other hand, if the volume is stuck too loud, try pressing the volume down button to lower it.

If this fix doesn’t work, proceed to the next fix.

3. Power Cycle the TV

Power cycling the TV fixes temporary bugs that can cause malfunctioning in the TV.

Here is the procedure to power cycle the TV:

  1. Turn off your TCL TV using the remote.
  2. Unplug the TV’s power cord.
  3. Let the TV stay disconnected for at least five minutes (the longer, the better).
  4. Plug the power cord and power on the TV.
  5. Test the volume

4. Update Audio Settings

If the issue persists, the next step is to update the audio settings using the procedure below:

  1. Press “Home” on the remote.
  2. Navigate to “Settings.”
  3. Choose “Audio.”
  4. Scroll to “Audio Mode.”
  5. Select “Auto (Stereo).”

This should solve the problem if it was due to wrong audio settings.

  2. Navigate to “Settings.”
  3. Select “System.”
