Disney Plus Not Working on TCL TV

Finally, there’s now a Disney Plus section on your TCL Smart TV! Unfortunately, you may encounter issues like errors when accessing the app or not being able to view any content. What can be done about this?

Disney Plus Not Working on TCL TV

Disney Plus may not work on TCL TVs because of unstable or slow internet connection, VPN issues, out-of-date software, cache corruption, unsupported device, or a maxed-out storage device. Most issues can be resolved by restarting your connection or the app itself.

In this article, I’ll help you troubleshoot issues with Disney Plus not working on your TCL television. Read on to learn more about common problems with Disney Plus on TCL TVs and how to fix them.

Constant Buffering

While watching videos on Disney Plus, you might notice that they’re not syncing perfectly with the audio. Disney Plus is designed to support content delivery in real-time, but it can struggle with lag time.

If you’re using a slow or unstable connection, the video may lag behind the audio and sound as though you’re watching a fraction of a second behind the actual playback. Needless to say, that can be jarring to watch and can ruin an otherwise enjoyable entertainment experience.

How To Fix

There are three ways to deal with this lag time:

  • If other channels on your TV aren’t buffering, the problem is specifically Disney Plus. In this case, try clearing your browser cache.
  • On some devices, you can select “Auto-detect connection” if there are multiple options available for you to connect to the internet.
  • Make sure you have enough bandwidth available on your home network. According to Disney, media viewing bandwidths should be high definition at 5.0Mbps, and 4K Ultra high definition at 25.0Mbps. You can check with your internet provider if you don’t know what your bandwidth is. If it’s lower than what Disney Plus requires, consider upgrading your plan.

Your VPN Is Preventing Third-Party Access

VPNs (virtual private networks) allow you to connect to a private network over the Internet. When you use a VPN, your data traffic is encrypted, which prevents third parties from spying on your online activities.

If Disney Plus isn’t available in your region, you’ll encounter error code 31 when trying to play a video. Traveling or changing your location might prevent you from opening the app.

How To Fix

Your location might be available for Disney Plus, but you might have forgotten to disable your VPN. If this happens, Disney Plus might not work. To fix it, disable the VPN, restart the Disney Plus app, and replay the video.

If you’re in a different location, you’ll need to enable the VPN. However, you need to connect to a country where Disney Plus is available.

Frequent Crashing

Does Disney Plus crash every time you open it? Maybe you also experience freezing and similar issues while playing the app via TCL TV.

There are a few reasons the app might crash: inadequate storage, out-of-date software, slow internet connection, unsupported device, cache corruption, or attempting to stream in a restricted country or region.

How To Fix

Because there are many reasons Disney Plus might be crashing, the good news is there are many fixes as well. For example, you can:

  • Relaunch the app. Restarting the app can fix most errors related to the page not loading. Also, any excess RAM usage will be cleared.
  • Clear cache. Since TCL TVs run on Android, you can clear cache data by following the in-app cache-clearing process. If this doesn’t work, try deleting and reinstalling the app to clear cache buildup.
  • Update the Disney app. If you use an Android device, you can update it via the Google Play Store. Meanwhile, iOS users should update the app from the App Store.

Error Connecting

The Disney Plus app often displays an “unable to connect” error, meaning the server can’t connect to your streaming device. You may have opened the app too quickly before your device established an internet connection.

Sometimes, this can be caused by too many users trying to access Disney Plus at the same time, causing the app to become overloaded.

How To Fix

Check if there’s anyone else in the house using Disney Plus. You may want to work out a schedule on when certain people can use the app at one time to prevent overloading.

In most cases, however, there’s a good chance this problem will resolve itself within a few minutes. Alternatively, you can try disconnecting from and reconnecting to the internet.

If these steps don’t fix the problem, contact customer support for assistance.

How Do I Fix Disney Plus on Fire Stick?

To fix Disney Plus on Fire Stick, make sure you are running the latest version of the app for your device. Also, ensure you have sufficient bandwidth, log out and back in again, and ensure the Firestick is compatible with your streaming device (e.g., 4K with 4K).

If you’re not having a good experience with Disney Plus on your Fire TV Stick, you can try some other things.

  • Make sure your Fire Stick is up-to-date. Running an older version of the Fire Stick OS may cause you to miss out on essential features Disney Plus requires.
  • Make sure your firewall is turned off. Many older devices come installed with outdated firewall software that can prevent access to certain apps and services.
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling Disney Plus. Often, these steps will resolve most connectivity issues.

If all else fails, contact customer support for further assistance.

Final Thoughts

Having Disney Plus on your TCL TV is awesome, but not when it comes with a host of issues like constant buffering, crashing, and connectivity issues.

To solve these issues, here are a few tips you can try. First, try clearing the browser cache. If that doesn’t work, try reinstalling the app. You can also opt-in for a device-specific push notification to ensure you get the latest updates on your device. If none of these fixes work, you can always contact customer support.
