All apps have a way of breaking down sometimes, and Hulu is no exception. If your Hulu app isn’t working on your Hisense TV, here are some reasons why and some ways you can fix it.
The cache may have become overloaded and needs to be cleared. The app may also need to be updated. You could also have network connection problems, preventing the app from loading. These can be fixed by updating your app, clearing the cache, and resetting your network connection.
Today we’ll talk about each of these in a little more detail and look at what you can do to solve this common problem.
Why Your Hulu App Isn’t Working
Most of the time, when any app, including Hulu, isn’t working, the app cache becomes overloaded with information. We will discuss this more in a moment, but what you need to know for now is that caches collect information so that a page or app can be easily reloaded.
Another common reason Hulu doesn’t work is because the app needs to be updated. Sometimes the TV itself may need to be updated. In any case, this is almost always an easy fix.
If it’s not an app-specific problem, then most of the time, it has to do with your network connection. Surprisingly, routers often disconnect and reconnect sporadically, leading to problems getting the apps to run. You may also have too many things running on your internet connection at any given time.
Let’s look at each of these problems in a little more detail.
The Cache Needs To Be Cleared
As I mentioned before, the cache collects information and holds on to it so that the app or page can load easier the next time. This includes information about your login credentials, browsing history within the app, and so on.
When the cache gets overloaded with information, it can slow down the app. Because Hulu is a video streaming app, it may be especially prone to quickly filling up the information.
In this case, the solution is to clear the cache. We’ll discuss that more in a moment.
The App Needs To Be Updated
Any app, including Hulu, needs regular updates to function correctly. You may have noticed apps on your smartphone being periodically unavailable due to needing to update. This is normal and helps the app reach its total functioning capacity.
Unfortunately, unlike with a phone, apps don’t always update on their own on TVs. Usually, you’ll have to go into the settings and manually update the app. We’ll discuss how to go about doing this later on.
When an app needs to be updated, you may notice that it begins to run very sluggishly. In the case of Hulu, you may see that it doesn’t load any of the videos or will randomly turn off the video you’re watching.
Over time, apps also develop bugs, and regular updates help correct viruses that may have infected them. On the brighter side, updating the app usually fixes all of this and is easy to do!
The Network Is Having Problems
This is a relatively common problem with WiFi. Unless you have connected your Hisense TV to a wired connection, expect to have network problems now and again.
Oftentimes, WiFi will go in and out, and it can be challenging for the TV to make an excellent connection to the signal. In this case, Hulu isn’t going to load well.
Another issue with your network is that the network speed isn’t built to handle the video load you’re attempting to play. This is especially true for larger apps like Hulu. If you have multiple devices streaming videos in your household, you should expect times when Hulu won’t load.
If you notice that sometimes the app will work perfectly and other times won’t play at all, depending on the time of day, the internet speed is most likely the culprit. This can be fixed by increasing your internet speed, which we’ll go into.
How You Can Fix Hulu Not Working on a Hisense TV
There are a few different fixes for when Hulu isn’t working on a Hisense TV. Most of them are simple fixes, so let’s look at what you can do.
1. Clear the Cache
Clearing the cache is a straightforward process. Let’s talk about how you can do this for a Hisense TV.
- The first thing you’ll want to do is access the quick menu from your remote. This button is located about a third of the way down and on the far left of your remote.
- Go into your settings. Once you’re in the menu, scroll down to the TV settings.
- Next, head into the system settings. This is about two-thirds way down the menu.
- Go into your application settings. These are located inside the system settings.
- Select clear cache. This will clear the cache for all apps on your TV.
Simple enough, right? Clearing the cache will almost always allow an app to start loading correctly unless you’re dealing with a network issue.
2. Reset the Router
Resetting your internet router is something everyone ends up having to do at some point. To reset the router, unplug it from the wall and plug it back in after about thirty seconds.

Usually, if you’re dealing with an overloaded internet network, this will fix the problem.
An important thing to note is that sometimes resetting the router doesn’t do much, if anything, to fix the problem. This happens when you haven’t purchased a speed package that will hold as much streaming as you are trying to do. In this case, contact your internet service provider and ask what other speed packages are available.
3. Update Your Hulu App
To update your app on your Hisense TV, there are three options.
Option one is to remove and reinstall the app. Option two is to update the firmware on your TV. In my opinion, it’s best to go ahead and update the firmware either way if Hulu isn’t working. Chances are, if you’re having problems with Hulu, you’re also having problems with some of the other apps, which is usually a firmware problem.
You can also go into the Google Play store on your TV and update the app.
