You Haven’t Updated Your Software to the Latest Version

ESPN might not work on your Hisense TV because you’re using outdated TV software. And it is essential to install recent updates for your software to be compatible with the latest version of the app. Therefore, if you’ve missed an update, you may experience difficulties using ESPN.

Similarly, another issue might be that your ESPN app hasn’t been updated in a while. Typically, the recent updates for your apps on Hisense TV are downloaded and installed automatically without you having to do anything. However, if you have the auto-update setting disabled, the updates will have to be installed manually.

You Have Troubles With Your Internet Connection

ESPN might not work on your Hisense TV if your internet connection isn’t stable, which is why ESPN struggles to play games in good quality and doesn’t work correctly. You can find out if that’s the case by checking your Internet connection on other devices or trying another app on your Hisense TV.

How To Fix ESPN Not Working on Hisense TV

1. Improve Your Internet Connection

If your internet is causing ESPN to not work properly, you should try and improve your internet connection.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Restart your router. Turn it off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. This can help improve the signal.
  • Move the router closer to your Hisense TV. It might be that obstacles such as walls, furniture, and other devices emitting signals are affecting your connection.
  • Disconnect other devices from your wifi. Sometimes, when too many devices are connected to the same wifi network, the signal becomes too weak to support streaming on your Smart TV.

2. Restart Your Hisense TV

When your Hisense TV is not working correctly or apps refuse to open, it can be fixed with a simple restart (most of the time.)

Here’s what you should do to reboot your TV:

  1. Turn your Hisense TV off
  2. Unplug the TV
  3. Hold the Power button for five seconds to remove any power left
  4. Wait a few minutes before plugging the TV back on
  5. Turn your Hisense TV on

3. Update Your Software

As mentioned, problems with the ESPN app could be caused by outdated software that isn’t compatible with the latest version of the app.

To check if an update is available, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Menu using your Hisense TV remote control
  2. Select Settings
  3. Go to System Settings
  4. Choose Software Update

If there’s a recent update not yet installed on your Hisense TV, you’ll be offered to download it. Follow the instructions on the screen and try opening the ESPN app once the installation is complete.

4. Update the ESPN App

Alternatively, you might be facing issues because the ESPN app hasn’t been updated in a while, which results in its malfunctioning.

Here’s what you should do to get the most recent version of ESPN and ensure it is always up to date:

  1. Go to Menu
  2. Select Apps
  3. Go to the Play Store
  4. In Play Store, enable Auto-update apps

5. Clear Cache and Data

Sometimes you might experience problems with apps on your Smart TV due to cached data (information stored from the app that makes reloading that app faster.) And clearing the cache often improves the app’s performance.

To do this, follow these easy steps:

  1. Go to Menu and then to Settings
  2. Select Applications
  3. Choose the ESPN app
  4. Select Clear cache, then Clear all data

6. Reinstall the ESPN App

If you’ve cleared the cache but saw no improvement, your best bet is to reinstall the app. Sometimes, this is the only way to fix the issue when the app starts glitching.

Here’s how the ESPN app can be reinstalled:

  1. Go to Menu
  2. Find the ESPN app and choose it without opening it
  3. Press and hold the OK button on your remote control
  4. Choose Uninstall
  5. Once the uninstallation process is complete, go back to Menu and then to the Play Store
  6. Find the ESPN app and install it back on your Hisense TV
  7. Wait for the installation to finish and open ESPN

7. Stream ESPN From Another Device

Some Hisense TV users complain that the ESPN app refuses to work properly no matter what solutions they try. While that is unfortunate, there is another way to overcome the issue and enjoy the games on your big screen.

The solution is simple: you can use Chromecast on another device, such as a smartphone or tablet, and cast it on your Hisense TV. Here’s how you can do that:

  1. Open Chromecast on any of your compatible devices
  2. Select Cast
  3. Among the suggested devices, choose the Hisense TV
  4. Play the game you’d like to watch and enjoy it on your Hisense TV

Conclusion

If ESPN doesn’t work on your Hisense TV, start by checking your internet connection and restarting the TV. Also, ensure you have the latest versions of the ESPN app and Hisense TV’s software. If the issue persists, try clearing all cache and data or reinstalling the app.

If these tips don’t help and you still have trouble using ESPN, the best way around it would be to use Chromecast. You can play the games from any compatible device and cast them on your Hisense TV.
